Senior Manager, Data Intelligence and Analytics
The Role:
Working within the Finance department and reporting to the Head of Finance, you will oversee the management and prioritization of the Data Intelligence and Analytics team. You will ensure that the team effectively meets the reporting and application development needs of various stakeholders across the business. This role involves aligning the team’s efforts with the strategic goals of the organization, managing resources, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Data Intelligence and Analytics team.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation within the team.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Prioritisation and Resource Allocation:
- Develop and implement frameworks for prioritizing data requests and projects based on business impact, urgency, and resource availability.
- Ensure that resources are allocated efficiently to meet the most critical business needs.
- Regularly review and adjust priorities in response to changing business requirements.
Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders across the business, understanding their needs and ensuring their requirements are met.
- Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders to discuss priorities, progress, and any changes in requirements.
- Communicate clearly and transparently about prioritization decisions and project statuses.
Project Management:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of data projects and initiatives.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Implement and maintain project management tools and methodologies to track progress and manage risks.
Strategic Planning:
- Contribute to the development of the overall data strategy and roadmap.
- Identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business value and improve decision-making.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in data management and analytics.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and improve processes for managing data requests and projects.
- Implement best practices and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
Collaboration with IT and Data Science Teams:
- Work closely with IT and Data Science teams to ensure alignment of operating models.
- Collaborate on the integration of new technologies and methodologies to enhance data capabilities.
- Ensure seamless communication and coordination between teams to support overall business objectives.
Essential Experience:
- Strong organisational and motivational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- University graduate in an analytical related subject with a minimum of a 2:1 pass.
- Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience working in data management, analytics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a leadership role, managing teams and projects.
- Experience in the private equity or financial services industry is a plus.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, Qlik).
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Desirable:
- Experience of working on Qlik platform, or a similar BI tool with the ability to present data with the end user in mind.
- Passion for technology/automation.
- Experience of interrogating large datasets and spotting trends in analysis.
- Prior experience working on SQL databases.
- Knowledge of programming language (i.e., Python).
- Very strong Excel skills (including the ability to write macros, or other coding experience).
- Experience of working with, and managing outsource providers.
- Involvement in managing cross-team project work.
- Familiarity with senior stakeholder interaction.
- Experience in leveraging AI technologies.
